What to do about lost documents, missing belongings and travel problems.
Lost your passport, phone or luggage? Start with the organisation that can act on the problem, and keep report numbers and receipts together. In immediate danger, call the emergency services first.
Report the loss or theft to the police and contact the authority responsible for your nationality. Prepare your travel dates, a passport copy if available and the police reference. Tell your airline promptly if your departure may be affected.
Check your foreign ministry website for the office serving Curaçao; it may be based elsewhere. Dutch emergency passports are handled by the Cabinet of the Governor. Ask about appointments, documents and processing time before travelling to an office.
Block missing cards through your bank. Contact your mobile provider to block the SIM, secure your accounts and use the phone locator if available. Do not confront anyone yourself if a location appears.
For items lost in the terminal, use the airport Lost & Found form. For belongings left on an aircraft, contact the airline. Include the flight, date, seat or location and a clear description.
Nearby places and useful guides.
A photo is not a travel document. Ask the relevant authority what replacement you need and confirm that it is accepted for your full route, including any transit countries.
Report it to the airline or its baggage handler before leaving the airport. Keep your baggage tag and report reference. Ask about delivery, necessary purchases and the airline claim procedure.
Do not assume so. Consular help generally provides guidance rather than paying travel expenses. Contact your travel insurer about cover and keep receipts for any claim.
