Choose the atmosphere you enjoy

A beach club can suit a quiet morning with a book, a long lunch or an afternoon with music. Koko’s sits at the quieter end of Jan Thiel Beach, while Kokomo combines swimming and beachfront dining at Vaersenbaai. Check the programme for your chosen day: a DJ set or event can change the atmosphere considerably.

Look at the beach, pool and access

A sea view does not tell you how you reach the water. Playa Beach Club in Westpunt has a pool above Playa Kalki, with stairs connecting the club and beach. When comparing places, check whether you will swim in the sea, a pool or both. Shade, toilets and the route from your sunbed to the water also matter, particularly with young children or limited mobility.

Plan for the part of the day you want

For a full beach day, compare the sunbeds and facilities. For lunch or drinks, look at the menu and restaurant hours. Beach service, the kitchen and the bar may finish at different times. If you want a happy hour or music, check the current schedule and arrange your return transport before settling in.

FAQ

Does the entrance fee include a sunbed?

Not always. Beach access, sunbeds and cabanas may be charged separately, while some packages include several items. Check the total for your group, including shade, towels and any food or drink credit.

Should I reserve a sunbed in advance?

It depends on the club. Kokomo does not accept sunbed reservations, so arriving early gives you more choice. Other clubs offer bookable beds or cabanas. A restaurant reservation does not automatically reserve a beach spot.

Can I visit just for lunch or a drink?

Many beach clubs have a restaurant or bar you can visit without renting a sunbed. Check whether beach entrance fees still apply and whether you need a table reservation, especially with a group.

Are beach clubs suitable for children?

Many welcome families, but check the facilities and programme for your visit. Look for shade, convenient toilets and suitable water access. Ask about age restrictions for specific pools or events, and supervise children around water.
