A small fishing village around a narrow blue bay
Lagun is a western coastal village for visitors who want a small bay, snorkeling and accommodation close to the water.
Playa Lagun sits between rocky sides that shape a long, narrow inlet. Fishermen, swimmers and divers share the bay. Reef fish can be seen around the rocky edges, but visibility and sea conditions vary. Leave room for boats and avoid standing on coral.
The village has apartments and holiday homes around the coast. Sea views do not always mean level access: some properties sit above the water and use stairs. Ask about the actual route to the beach, especially with young children or limited mobility.
For time away from the coast, the Hofi Mango guided tour offers a separate inland outing through gardens and a former plantation. Arrange transport to the park; it is not a walking tour starting in Lagun.
How far is the drive from your stay?
Lagun developed in the mid-19th century as a small community of free residents, including people who had bought their freedom from slavery. After emancipation in 1863, more formerly enslaved people settled here. Fishing and small-scale farming shaped village life for generations.
The bay is the reason we’d choose Lagun. A good view is lovely, but easy access to the water would matter more to us when booking.
