In Westpunt, you can build a day around a bay, a snorkel and somewhere to watch the sea. Staying at Curaçao’s western end gives you time to return to favourite places instead of fitting them all into one excursion.
Westpunt is part of Banda Abou, Curaçao’s wider western region. Sabana Westpunt village and nearby coastal accommodation provide a base for beaches, diving and nature. Holiday apartments and smaller resorts sit alongside a village where fishing remains visible, particularly at Playa Piskado, also known as Playa Grandi.
Playa Kalki and Playa Forti are among the local beaches. Grote Knip, also called Kenepa Grandi, and Kleine Knip lie farther along the western coast. Staying here lets you explore them on separate days rather than rushing between stops.
For a change of scenery, Christoffel Park offers hiking and island landscapes. At neighbouring Shete Boka National Park, waves strike the rocky north coast. These are land outings; rough northern inlets are not alternatives to sheltered swimming bays.
A rental car makes this base more flexible. Beaches, restaurants and accommodation are spread out, and Willemstad is a separate drive. Plan groceries and dinner options around your outings.
When booking an oceanfront stay, check how you reach the water. A property above the sea may have steps or rocky access rather than a sandy beach at its door.
