Where to stay in Curaçao: hotels, resorts, apartments and villas

Finding the right accommodation in Curaçao starts with deciding what kind of holiday you want. You can stay in a beachfront resort, choose a hotel in historic Willemstad, rent an apartment with your own kitchen or enjoy the extra space and privacy of a holiday villa. Each option offers a different experience. Hotels and resorts may provide convenient services and facilities, while apartments and holiday homes give you more flexibility to organise your days. Smaller boutique properties can be an appealing alternative if you prefer a more personal atmosphere. Location matters just as much as accommodation type. Staying near Jan Thiel or Mambo Beach is different choosing a historic neighbourhood in Willemstad or a quieter location in the west. Think about where you want to spend your days, how you plan to travel around and what you would like within easy reach. We have brought different accommodation types together so you can explore and compare your options. Look beyond the photographs and check what is actually included, where the property is located and whether it suits your plans.

Which stay?

Travellers who prefer hotel services and convenience

Compare hotels and resorts, paying attention to their location, restaurants, swimming pools and the services actually included in the booking.

Independent travellers and longer stays

Apartments and studios can offer more flexibility, particularly when kitchen facilities are available and you prefer organising your own daily routine.

Families, groups and travellers seeking privacy

Villas and holiday homes can provide additional space and shared living areas. Check the sleeping arrangements, maximum occupancy and individual property facilities.

Should you choose a hotel, resort, apartment or villa?

Hotels and resorts are worth considering if you prefer accommodation with services and facilities close at hand. Depending on the property, these may include restaurants, swimming pools, housekeeping or direct beach access. The important thing is to check which facilities are actually available and included in your booking.

Apartments and studios are attractive if you want more independence. Having a kitchen or kitchenette can make it easier to prepare your own breakfast or meals, although the exact equipment varies. They can also be convenient for longer stays.

Villas and holiday homes are another option, especially for families, groups or travellers who prefer more space and privacy. Some have private outdoor areas or pools, but these features should never be assumed.

Boutique hotels and smaller local accommodations offer a different style of stay, often with fewer rooms and a more individual setting.

The best option is not necessarily the most luxurious. Choose the accommodation that fits how you actually want to spend your holiday.

Which part of Curaçao is best for your accommodation?

The location of your accommodation can influence your entire holiday.

Willemstad is worth considering if you enjoy restaurants, historic buildings and exploring the city. Within the capital, neighbourhoods such as Pietermaai, Punda and Otrobanda offer different surroundings.

Jan Thiel and Mambo Beach are popular areas for visitors who want beach clubs, restaurants and activities nearby. Blue Bay and Piscadera offer other coastal accommodation settings.

If you are interested in nature, snorkelling and exploring smaller beaches, consider areas in the west such as Westpunt, Lagun and Banda Abou.

Remember that an accommodation described as being in a particular area is not necessarily within walking distance of its main attractions. Check its exact location before booking.

Our separate guide to Curaçao's areas and neighbourhoods helps you compare the different locations in more detail.

Is an all-inclusive resort the right choice?

An all-inclusive resort can be convenient if you prefer having meals, drinks and some activities arranged within your accommodation package. It can make parts of your holiday easier to organise, especially if you plan to spend plenty of time at the resort.

However, all-inclusive packages are not identical. Restaurants, premium drinks, certain activities and other services may have different conditions or additional charges. Always check exactly what your booking includes.

A hotel without an all-inclusive package, an apartment or a villa gives you another way to experience Curaçao. You can discover restaurants around the island, prepare some meals yourself and organise your days independently.

Neither approach is automatically better. Consider how often you expect to leave your accommodation and whether you prefer convenience or flexibility.

What should you check before booking accommodation?

Look beyond the room photographs and the nightly price. Check the exact location, the facilities you will use and the complete booking conditions.

If beach access matters, confirm whether the property is directly on the beach, within walking distance or requires transportation. Also check whether access, sunbeds or other beach facilities are included.

For apartments and villas, look at kitchen facilities, air conditioning, parking and any housekeeping arrangements. For hotels and resorts, check which restaurants, pools or other services guests can use.

Pay attention to the total price, possible additional charges, minimum stay requirements, cancellation conditions and check-in arrangements. These details can vary considerably between properties.

Travelling with children or a larger group? Make sure the sleeping arrangements, permitted occupancy and available facilities match your needs.

Our comparison is designed to help you identify relevant differences, but the final booking conditions should always be checked directly with the accommodation or booking provider.

Do you need a rental car, and what can you do from your accommodation?

A rental car is useful for exploring Curaçao independently. The island's beaches, attractions and restaurants are spread across different areas, and not every accommodation is within walking distance of everything you need.

If you prefer not to drive, consider staying somewhere with restaurants and other useful facilities nearby. Parts of central Willemstad are particularly convenient for exploring on foot. You can also arrange taxis, transfers or organised excursions to visit other parts of the island.

You do not need to change accommodation to experience different regions. A day trip can take you towards the western beaches, while boat excursions, snorkelling trips and other activities let you discover a different side of Curaçao.

Dushi Guides offers tours and activities across the island. If you book an activity through us, you can also contact our team for free personal help, tips and advice about the rest of your holiday.

Questions

What is the best type of accommodation in Curaçao?

That depends on your preferences. Hotels and resorts suit travellers who want services and facilities nearby. Apartments offer more independence, while villas can provide extra space and privacy. Boutique hotels and smaller properties are alternatives for those who prefer a more individual atmosphere.

Is it better to stay near the beach or in Willemstad?

Choose a beach area if you expect to spend much of your holiday by the sea. Willemstad is a good option if restaurants, history and city life are important to you. You can also stay in one location and visit other areas during the day.

Does beachfront accommodation always include beach access?

Not necessarily. Being described as beachfront or near a beach does not guarantee that every beach facility is included. Check the property's location, access arrangements and any additional charges before booking.

Are taxes and additional fees included in accommodation prices?

This depends on the property and booking provider. Check the final total for applicable taxes, cleaning charges, deposits and any other fees before confirming your reservation.
