Grote Berg is a practical base for a holiday by car, with routes towards the beaches of Banda Abou, the Hato area and Willemstad.
Grote Berg lies west of the airport, on the northern side of the Weg naar Westpunt. Its main appeal for visitors is the location: stay in a house or apartment and explore different parts of the island from there. For beach days, consider Kokomo, Daaibooi or Cas Abao; the beaches around Westpunt are farther along the western route. Check actual driving distances before filling your itinerary. Accommodation here is best assessed on its own merits, including outdoor shade, parking, air conditioning and pool access. Do not expect a beach resort setting or direct access to a swimming beach. Plan to drive to beaches such as Kokomo, Daaibooi or Cas Abao.
A car is strongly recommended for an independent holiday here. You will use it for beach trips, shopping and visits to Willemstad.
No. Westpunt is farther towards the western end of the island. Grote Berg gives access to the western road network, but it is not beside every western beach.
