Feeling unwell on holiday? For non-life-threatening complaints, contact a local GP first. For a serious medical emergency, call 912 for an ambulance.

How do you find a doctor?

Ask your accommodation or travel insurer for a nearby practice and call before visiting. Outside normal hours, use the Curaçao GP association for on-call information. Describe your symptoms so the practice can advise where and when to attend.

Where can you get medicine?

A pharmacy is called a botika. Outside regular opening hours, check the on-duty pharmacy listing and call before travelling. Bring your prescription or medication packaging; availability and prescription requirements may differ from home.

What should you bring and pay?

Bring identification, insurance details and a list of medicines and allergies. You may need to pay upfront. Contact your insurer promptly and keep itemised invoices and medical documents. Never delay urgent treatment while waiting for insurance approval.

FAQ

Can I use an EHIC or GHIC on Curaçao?

No. These cards are not valid on Curaçao. Ask your insurer about cover for treatment, hospital admission and medical evacuation, including any costs you must pay yourself.

What if I lose or run out of my regular medicine?

Contact a local pharmacist or doctor with the active ingredient, strength and your prescription details. Do not assume your usual brand is available or change your dose without professional advice.

Can I get medical help at night or at the weekend?

Yes. Use the GP and pharmacy duty services for care outside regular hours. Curaçao Medical Center also has a 24-hour emergency department for serious emergencies.
