Sint Michiel, also known as Boca Sami, brings together a working waterfront, a small village beach and nearby wetlands on the coast west of Willemstad.
Boca Sami is worth visiting for the village around the water: fishing boats, places to eat and a beach with free public access. Leave time to sit by the bay instead of treating it only as a swimming stop. The nearby Sint Michiel salt pans belong to a wetland landscape used by flamingos and other waterbirds; watch from a distance and stay out of the water and mud. Blue Bay is nearby but has its own entrance and visitor arrangements. For a different view of this coastline, the Piscadera Bay Jet Ski Tour passes Boca Sami on its coastal route. It departs from Pirate Bay in Piscadera, not from the village.

Fort Sint Michiel recalls the bay’s strategic role. During the British occupation of 1807–1816, it served as a signalling post overlooking the coastal approach.
