Exploring Curaçao by car? Know how parking payments work, how to fill up and what to arrange before renting an electric vehicle. A little preparation saves time on the road.

Parking in Willemstad

Paid street parking applies in designated parts of Punda and Otrobanda. The published rate is XCG 1 per hour, Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00, excluding public holidays. Check the signs at your space: private car parks can have different hours and prices.

How do you pay for parking?

Follow the instructions at the parking meter and display any printed ticket clearly on the dashboard. Bring local coins or use the payment app indicated on site. Check the selected zone and registration number, and set a reminder before your parking time expires. See Willemstad Parking for payment options and parking zones.

Parking at beaches and attractions

Check whether parking is included in admission, charged separately or reserved for guests. Note any gate closing time before walking away. Keep access roads clear and take valuables with you, including passports and bags that might look empty.

Filling up your rental car

At many stations, you park beside a pump and pay at the counter before filling up. Give the pump number and the amount you want to spend. Confirm the correct fuel with your rental company and ask staff if the pump labels are unclear.

Check payment acceptance before fueling and carry cash as a backup. If prepaying more than you use, ask how the unused amount is refunded. Fill up before a long trip west; use the station locator to check locations and opening hours.

Charging an electric car

Agree a charging plan with the rental company before collecting the car. Check the connector, supplied cable, payment method and charging access at your accommodation. The D-Point map lists locations, including public and private chargers, but does not show live availability. Choose a backup location and leave enough charge to reach it.

FAQ

Can I pay for fuel with a credit card?

Do not assume that every station accepts your card. Check before filling up and bring cash as a backup. An automated pump may require a local payment service rather than an ordinary bank card.

What should I do if my rental car has a wheel clamp?

Follow the instructions on the notice attached to the car and contact the parking service through its official contact details. Inform your rental company if needed. Do not try to remove the clamp yourself.

How much fuel or battery charge should I return the car with?

Follow your rental agreement. Confirm the required fuel or charge level when collecting the vehicle, photograph the dashboard and allow time to refuel or recharge before returning it.
