A winding inland bay framed by the hills of Banda Abou
Take a short detour near Soto for a wide view across Santa Martha Bay, where curves of water and low hills reveal a different side of Curaçao.
Santa Martha’s appeal is the shape of the landscape: sheltered water reaches inland between hills, creating layers that look quite different from an open beach. The lookout is a small roadside stop rather than a visitor centre. Approach slowly on the winding road and pull completely clear of passing traffic. Leave space for other visitors and keep children close beside the road.
How far is the drive from your stay?
We would stop here with a camera and no rush. Look beyond the obvious wide shot; the bends in the water make lovely smaller compositions too.

No. You reach this lookout by road. It is different from longer hiking routes in the surrounding hills.
It is an informal roadside viewpoint without a standard admission ticket.
No. The lookout is above the bay and has no direct swimming entry. Beach access elsewhere is a separate visit.
Morning or late-afternoon light can give the hills more definition. Cloud cover and the direction of the light matter more than a fixed hour.
Do not count on facilities at the stopping point. Bring water and plan food and toilet stops elsewhere.
