Blue Bay Beach Club is part of Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort, near Sint Michiel and northwest of Willemstad. The beach is also known as Blauwbaai. For a day visitor, the appeal is straightforward: a sandy bay where swimming, a beach bed and somewhere to eat come together.
The shore slopes gradually into the water, making it convenient to alternate between relaxing and swimming. Further out, the underwater landscape gives you another reason to bring a mask. There is more than one place to take a break from the sun. Coast Beach Restaurant overlooks the bay, and Blend Beach Bar offers another setting for a drink. Showers and changing facilities also make it practical to spend several hours here without planning another stop for lunch.

How far is the drive from your stay?
The name Blue Bay, or Blauwbaai, comes from the former Blaauw plantation. Indigo dye was produced on the estate, whose history dates back to around 1700. The old plantation house remains a link to that past. Today, the surrounding sculpture garden adds another layer to the landscape, with work by artists from Curaçao and beyond.
We would put Blue Bay on the shortlist when swimming and spending time in the water matter as much as the beach bed. It is particularly useful for companions with different plans: one can arrange a dive while another stays on the beach. Our advice would be to leave room for an unhurried lunch instead of adding several more beaches to the same day.
